My New Orleans Food Adventures

In America, there might be better gastronomic destinations than New Orleans, but there is no place more uniquely wonderful.

                                                         -Anthony Bourdain

This blog post is written specifically for healthy-foodie adventurers like myself, who would like some delicious restaurant recommendations.  As you already know, I am a huge fan of good food that comes from good sources.  But, there was one stop I made while on vacation, a beignet place, that was no where close to being healthy -- it was my one sweet indulgent while I visited New Orleans. You can't go to New Orleans without enjoying a hot, fresh beignet and a cup of chicory coffee. Did I mention it's open 24 hours too ;).

I have listed below the places that I enjoyed while exploring the lovely city of New Orleans.  Feel free to contact me with other great places that you have found or will find on your visit there too! Happy traveling + eating!

Breakfast:
  • District Donuts: Try the pork belly breakfast taco + the Vietnamese Coffee -yumm!
  • Another Broken Egg Cafe: Try any of their eggs benedict or omelette options, their homemade sausage patties and gluten-free pancakes were delish too!

Lunch:
  • Cowbell: Try their Grass-fed burgers + kale salad --amazeballs!
  • Drago's Seafood Restaurant: Try their Famous Charbroiled Oysters (holy cow are they flavorful) + seafood stew
  • Green Goddess: Their whole menu (including cocktails) was fantastic, so try anything that looks good to you!

Dinner:
  • Sylvain: Farm-to-table gastropub with fantastic cocktails + all of their food was off the chizain!
  • Sante Fe: Mexican food with fresh made margaritas, amazing guacamole + tuna tower ceviche!
  • Rock-n-Sake Bar & Sushi: Club dancing music with tuna ceviche + try any sushi rolls on the menu because they were all delicious!

Beignets:
Morning Call Coffee Stand: Try their beignets and coffee- duh!

Fun places to get you moving:
  • Evergreen Plantation:  History + gorgeous grounds
  • Ghost Tours:  Very entertaining + creepy
  • Crescent Park: Cool view of the city + it's built on old wharfs
  • City Park: it's freakin' huge + has everything there for kids and adults

Have fun + enjoy some new adventures!

                        Always craving good food,
                                          Jillian
